This image is taken in the mid-IR, 3 - 5 micron band and depicts warm returns as black. The cockpit and engine intakes are clearly warmer than the rest of the aircraft and clear changes in temperature are evident as the wheels touch down. The jet efflux pattern also alters as reverse thrust is engaged.
